MISSION OF THE POSITION

The Pipe Cutter/Groover is responsible for cutting the pipes to the correct length and marking the locations where holes are to be cut for the outlets per the job production sheet. The Pipe Cutter will also ensure that grooves are placed at the end of each pipe after the pipe has been cut to the correct length.

Essential Duties

Pipe Cutting

• Cut pipes, mark outlet holes on pipes, and groove the pipes.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
• Set up, operate, or tend machines that cut or slice materials.
• Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices, such as rulers, micrometers, or scales.
• Mark cutting lines or identifying information on stock, using marking pencils, rulers, or scribes.
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Maintain productions records, such as quantities, types, and dimensions of materials produced.
• Read production sheets and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.

• This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Experience

No certifications or licenses are required

Up to 1 year of related experience and/or training in construction, fabrication shop, or machine shop
