AVK Industrial Products, a Precision Castparts Company, manufactures superior mechanical inserts, studs, compression limiters, installation tools and military standard bolts. AVK produces blind installed threaded fasteners for transportation and general industrial markets worldwide. We use state of the art high-speed cold forming equipment to produce blind installed threaded inserts and studs.
We feature product lines of both unified (INCH) and metric fasteners along with numerous special designs that meet customer application requirements. All aspects of our business are controlled and certified to the exacting requirements of ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 14001:2015 international standards. Housed in an 80,000 square-foot facility in the Valencia Industrial Center, AVK has been manufacturing high quality products for over 35 years.
AVK is currently seeking a full time Machinist Level 3 to join our team.
Position Summary
Level Three: Building upon level two, with little or no assistance level three machinists operate 6 spindle manual screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms (bar or chucker) to machine metal stock) at the highest level of complexity. Level three machinists apply advanced blue print and GD&T reading to complex production inspection processes. Level three machinists competencies include the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as height and air gauges and bench inspection. Typically 4-6 years of experience.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Interpret work orders
- Lift up to 35lbs
- Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting tools to be used.
- Sets up machines for self and/or others to run jobs involving highest degrees of complexity and all types of material.
- Positions and secures specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and loads bar stock into feeding mechanism.
- Installs and adjusts specified cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
- Positions and secures tools in toolholders.
- Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.
- Moves controls to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip removal.
- Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
- Replaces worn tools.
- Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.
Required Skills
- The ability to read and write English.
- Advance print reading & inspection processes
- Basic knowledge of wire material & coatings
- Basic trouble shooting
Experience & Education
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school; and 4-6 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- GED or High school diploma preferred but not required.
