Litigation Attorney

Synectics Inc.

A California law firm is looking for a plaintiff-side personal injury litigator with at least two years of litigation experience who is ready to own cases and drive them forward. You will handle discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, client communication, and case strategy. We want a self-starter who takes initiative, follows through, and is ready for the opportunity to run with a caseload.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Own an active caseload from filing through resolution: set the case plan, drive each next step, and keep matters trial-ready.
  • Draft, file, and serve complaints, government claims when assigned, written discovery, motions, and other litigation papers.
  • Propound and respond to discovery; analyze the evidence, meet and confer, and pursue motions to compel when needed.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, treating providers, and experts; use testimony to strengthen case strategy.
  • Evaluate liability, causation, damages, evidence, and case value; identify risks early and take action to address them.
  • Prepare and attend mediations, write persuasive mediation briefs, negotiate with opposing counsel, and pursue resolution with the client.
  • Handle hearings, law and motion, and case conferences; prepare assigned matters for trial and work with trial counsel as needed.
  • Communicate with clients throughout litigation, prepare them for key events, and explain options and decisions clearly.
  • Coordinate and delegate effectively with paralegals, case managers, experts, and attorneys; review work for quality and completeness.
  • Manage deadlines with urgency, research and write through difficult legal issues, and keep firm leadership informed of progress or risk.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • At least two years of civil litigation experience; plaintiff personal injury experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on ability to draft discovery and motions, take or defend depositions, and prepare for mediation.
  • Proven case ownership: anticipate deadlines, identify the next move, and execute without constant direction.
  • Strong writing, research, analysis, and oral advocacy skills; working knowledge of California civil procedure and evidence.
  • Juris Doctor and active California Bar license; clear communicator, organized, resilient, and able to manage an active caseload.
