We are seeking a Software Engineer to join GlobalTimesOnline, a digital news and publishing organization that delivers trusted journalism to readers in over 120 countries. This fully remote role suits someone who likes owning the systems behind a high traffic publishing platform, from the content management system to subscriptions and delivery, and who cares about reliability when millions of readers hit the site. The ideal candidate writes clean, well tested code, thinks about performance at scale and enjoys solving real world problems.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain backend services in Python and Go
• Build and scale APIs for content publishing, search and subscriptions
• Model and optimize data in PostgreSQL and Redis
• Work with product and editorial teams to ship features readers and editors actually use
• Write automated tests and improve platform reliability and uptime
• Monitor services, diagnose incidents and deliver lasting fixes
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers
• Follow secure coding practices to protect reader and payment data

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong working knowledge of Python or Go
• Experience designing and running REST APIs in production
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with high traffic or content heavy platforms is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
