Solutions Engineer

PreSales Collective

FUNDVIEW is a modern, cloud-based ERP platform built specifically for local governments with populations under 25,000. Hundreds of cities, towns, and counties rely on FUNDVIEW to replace outdated legacy systems and move beyond spreadsheets or generic accounting tools that were not purpose-built for local governments.

Our integrated SaaS suite includes finance, utility billing, payroll, permitting, code enforcement, municipal court, and citizen services, giving local governments enterprise-grade software capability without added complexity.

Our mission is to make government work easier. We deliver intuitive software, fast onboarding, and responsive support so local governments can operate more efficiently and serve their communities with confidence.

About The Role

FUNDVIEW is seeking an engaging, technically capable and commercially minded Solutions Engineer who brings our software to life through compelling, tailored demonstrations. You will partner with Account Executives to help municipal finance directors, clerks, IT teams and other stakeholders see how FUNDVIEW can improve their workflows and outcomes. The AE owns primary discovery, the customer relationship and commercial strategy; you own demo readiness, functional storytelling and credible answers to whether the solution fits.

This is a hands-on presales role in a growing organization. You will report to the VP of Sales and collaborate with Product, Business Systems Analysts and Development to surface product gaps, validate issues and turn market feedback into actionable insight.

FUNDVIEW welcomes candidates with equivalent experience; a specific degree or prior government background is not required

What you’ll do

  • Partner with AEs to scope each demo: clarify prospect workflows, modules, stakeholders, pain points and questions; ask targeted follow-up questions when needed to tailor the experience.
  • Prepare, configure and test prospect-specific demo environments using realistic government data, fund structures, charts of accounts, roles and workflows; maintain reliable shared environments across releases.
  • Lead engaging remote product demonstrations, with the AE actively participating; adapt the story, depth and sequence for finance, operations, IT and executive audiences, emphasizing business value rather than feature tours.
  • Explain functionality, configuration, reporting, implementation considerations and integrations accurately; distinguish confirmed capabilities, limitations, gaps and items requiring validation.
  • Support AEs with technical and functional objections, evaluation committee presentations, scoped proofs of concept and occasional onsite city council or board presentations.
  • Contribute functional content to RFPs, RFIs and security questionnaires in partnership with the appropriate internal owners; help create champion presentations and business-case materials for municipal approvals.
  • Document demo outcomes, meaningful next steps, workflow needs and gaps in HubSpot within one business day, enabling the AE to own follow-up and deal progression.
  • Provide clear implementation handoffs on won deals, including what was demonstrated, validated, promised and unresolved.
  • Identify and communicate bugs, product gaps, competitor capabilities and state-specific requirements; partner with Product and Development to validate issues, document customer and revenue impact, and track responses without owning technical support or the engineering backlog.
  • Build reusable demo scenarios, playbooks, objection-handling resources and enablement materials; share market insights and help improve how the presales function operates.

What You’ll Bring (Required Skills)

  • Experience in customer-facing software demonstrations, solutions consulting, presales, implementation consulting or comparable complex-software presentations.
  • Excellent verbal communication, listening, storytelling and facilitation skills; able to make technical workflows clear, relevant and engaging for varied audiences.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn complex software, configurations, business processes and integration concepts; no coding requirement.
  • Ownership, consistent execution, adaptability, coachability, collaboration and comfort building processes in a changing environment.
  • Ability to organize demo preparation, document accurately, follow through and work effectively with AEs and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have, not required

  • Government or nonprofit finance; fund accounting, GASB, budgeting, procurement, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, utility billing or financial reporting.
  • Experience with public-sector ERP or financial management software, municipal workflows, RFPs or council approval processes.
  • ERP configuration, data migration, reporting/BI, APIs or integrations; CPA, CGFM, CPFO or related credentials.

Who thrives at FUNDVIEW

You enjoy partnering with sales, learning from customers and helping shape better products and processes. You use modern tools, including AI where appropriate, to improve preparation and execution.
