    TITLE: Middle School Athletic Director
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Valid teaching certificate for West Virginia Secondary Schools
    • Coaching experience desirable in high school for at least three years.

    • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the principal and Board of Education may deem appropriate and acceptable

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
    SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools
    SALARY: Based on professional extra-curricular salary schedule
    FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
    • Responsible to the principal for such details as are required in conducting the athletic program of the school and for such reports, inventories, and information requested by the principal.
    • Responsible for all policies as set forth by the Board of Education, Superintendent, and Principal.
    • Responsible for submitting a financial report and the end of each month and yearly report.
    • Responsible for developing and administering the athletic program budget in cooperating with the principal.
    • Responsible for control and purchasing of all athletic equipment and supplies.
    • Prepare and co-sign all checks related to the athletic department.
    • Prepare all purchase orders for the athletic accounts and maintain that file.
    • Prepare and file deposit slips.
    • Prepare and file all receipts.
    • Responsible for a complete audit of the financial records of the athletic department at the close of each school year for the county office.
    • Responsible for scheduling all athletic events.
    • Prepare contracts for all athletic events with other schools along with any financial agreements for the principal’s approval and signature.
    • See that all eligibility reports are made according to SSAC requirements and are sent to the proper schools.
    • Study all rules and regulations of the SSAC.
    • Responsible for all transportation, housing, meals, and other items that may present themselves.
    • Attend all games, meets, matches, or meetings pursuant to the athletic program or appoint a representative t act in his place.
    • Represent the school Booster Club meetings.
    • Responsible for administration and organization for all home athletic contests including:
    • Tickets, sellers, takers, guards
    • Police protection
    • Officials
    • Maintenance (field and gym preparation)


    FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

      • Scorekeeper BB
      • Scoreboard FB
      • Dressing room facilities
      • Authorizes all expenditures for contests including the guarantee.
      • Issue complimentary passes for visiting team coaches, and necessary game personnel
      • Secure ambulance FB
      • Secure a doctor FB
      • Provide concession stand operation for FB and BB
      • Deposit all gate receipts the night of the game
      • Act as an advisor to the coaching staff and stimulate cooperation between coaches, teachers, and administrators concerning the policies of the athletic department.
      • Responsible for administering the insurance program covering school athletics.
      • Keep the principal informed of athletic activities.
      • Responsible for all public relations and advertisement of athletic events.
      • Responsible for gathering doctor and parental consent forms in accordance with SSAC regulation.
      • Make all contracts for game officials and see that they are sent to proper schools.
      • Keep all contracts on file.
      • Check all award winners and see that they meet the requirements and provide such letters.
      • Responsible for the development of Athletic Council.
      • Aid in the development of an intermural program.
      • Perform other duties relative to athletics as assigned by the principal.
      • Make arrangements for other school’s of non-school use of playing fields and facilities when required.
      • Direct a plan for providing for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the season.
      • Help in developing a rapport with the junior high school.
      • Act as an advisor and guidance to the junior high school relating to the development of our athletic program.
      • Responsible for scheduling, game maintenance, and rule interpretations as set forth by the SSAC.
      • Any days absence for official duties out of the building will not be substituted.
      • Writes letters of recommendation to colleges and universities for athletics’ scholarship consideration.
