Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer III -  Roadway Design candidate for our Transportation Design Group. This position is based in our Richmond, VA office and is eligible for Remote. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Lay out horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for road widening projects
  • Model and design roadway improvement projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation technology
  • Use 3D visualization software for client and public communication presentations
  • Develop plan sheets and compile project packages for project submission
  • Complete roadway and drainage calculations utilizing software and reference material
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Research and download available GIS open-source data
  • Complete field observations and data collection for office use and project discussion
  • Learn new technology to advance own skill set and group knowledge
  • Attend project meetings with clients and contractors

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelors or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field
  • Ideal candidates would have at least 4 years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design
  • Microstation GEOPAK proficiency preferred
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred
  • VDOT experience preferred
  • EIT preferred
