Strategic Responsibility

The Sr. Director of Marketing, Curriculum and Learning Resources is a player/coach position that will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies, initiatives, and campaigns tailored for launching new products and enhancing the market presence of existing backlist products to exceed annual revenue targets and budgetary expectations. This position provides strategic leadership in understanding market dynamics and target audience behaviors through advanced market research techniques, identifying growth opportunities for new and existing product lines across both established and emerging markets. It will lead cross-departmental collaboration to ensure strategic alignment and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts against key performance indicators and strategic goals.

Job Description

  • Leads the strategic planning and oversight of marketing, PR, and digital strategies for all products within designated audiences and brands. Guides and mentors the curriculum marketing team in the orchestration and implementation of comprehensive marketing programs, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at launching new products and enhancing the market presence of existing products, ensuring they surpass annual sales goals and budgetary allocations. Oversees the advancement of content marketing efforts and the expansion of key communities (Wonder Ink, Ministry Spark, and social media groups). Drives the ongoing differentiation of David C Cook’s (DCC's) curriculum from competitors, firmly establishing a unique position for each brand and its products in the marketplace.
  • Collaborates with the CMO to acquire high ministry impact resources that best support global mission, such as: learning resources for all priority audiences, study and multi-dimensional small group resources, and digital only resources. Manages process of nurturing customer leads. Drives the publishing business to maximize available opportunities, including Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) assessment and growth plans.
  • Collaborates with the digital marketing team to ensure plans and activities are coordinated and determine how social media and other digital initiatives play into marketing campaigns and product discoverability.
  • Champion DCC’s digital content to aggressively expand digital revenue globally, to explore how to market and promote all digital resources.
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction in fostering collaborative planning among the product team, trade sales, telesales, church marketing, and field sales, ensuring the development of integrated plans and strategies for all products. As a senior figure, orchestrates high-level coordination and alignment of cross-functional teams to maximize synergy and effectiveness across all marketing and sales channels.
  • Establishes advanced analytics and key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, integrating these metrics into a comprehensive assessment framework for strategic review and optimization by senior leadership teams.

Position Requirements

Formal Education: Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. Master’s Degree in Marketing or MBA preferred.

Experience: 7+ years in marketing sales, or related field.

Specialized Knowledge/Certification: 4-5 years CBA and trade publishing with a strong background in Christian publishing experience required. Advanced knowledge of industry trends and regulatory compliance.

Equipment Knowledge: PC/Mac Computers and general office equipment. Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, as well as experience with CRM and ERP software systems

Working Conditions

  • Comfortable working conditions, handling light weight, intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Working environment cubicle office and co-working spaces with some noise
  • Detail-oriented work requiring mental acuity and accuracy.
  • Normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) are typical but must have a willingness and flexibility to attend events and work during evenings and weekends if/when necessary.
  • Some travel required.
