Position Summary: The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging includes a diverse portfolio of offices, the Office of Business Development, the Office of Organizational Development, Talent and Culture, the Office of Supplier Diversity, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management, Strategic Partnerships for Advancing Collective Equity. These teams work together to assist the Chancellor in achieving the vision of Equity and Excellence for All.

The Business Development Project Coordinator, DEIB will provide administrative and clerical support to the Deputy Chief of Business Development (DCBD). Performs related work.

Reports to: Deputy Chief of Business Development

Direct Reports: N/A

Key Relationships: Office of Business Development staff, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging personnel, central and school-based New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) staff, other City offices and NYCPS vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Deputy Chief of Business Development schedule, contact lists, and travel arrangements.
  • Review and prioritize messages, meetings, and incoming requests.
  • Respond to general inquiries from internal staff, other City offices, and the general public.
  • Prepare correspondence on behalf of the Deputy Chief of Business Development and edit confidential materials.
  • Process and file administrative forms and documents.
  • Engage in research activities to address the Deputy Chief of Business Development inquiries.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of office systems and provide general office support.
  • Assist with the organization and logistics for Business Development/or DEIB events.
  • Ensure the Deputy Chief of Business Development is organized and well-prepared for meetings/events.
  • Serve as a liaison to Business Development staff to convey information and instructions from the Deputy Chief of Business Development.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.

Plus

  • Excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal and planning skills.
  • Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Solution-focused, customer service approach.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle numerous responsibilities in a timely manner.

Preferred

  • Experience working as an executive assistant to a senior executive in a large organization.
  • General knowledge of the NYCPS system.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate orally with internal staff and NYCPS community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and strong project management skills.
  • A passion for education.

Salary: $79,000 - $85,000

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
