Summary

The Director of Education is responsible for supporting the Campus Director in the areas of development, organization, facilities utilization, instructional delivery, student academic services and management of the academic programs at the assigned campus.

The Director of Education serves as the academic leader and manager of all instruc tional programs offered by Spartan College. This position is responsible for creating and sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and faculty members. This position supports the Campus Director to manage academic processes, program chairs, faculty members, and the library by creating a collaborative working environment with all team members.

Essential Functions

  • Support Academic Chairs to develop a solid leadership team of instructional staff and other staff members to ensure retention outcomes, expeditious course scheduling, optimum use of faculty and resolution of administrative issues and program pass rates.
  • Works with Campus Director to manage daily the education department to remain within budgetary constraints and improve operating margins.
  • Supports the process for hiring, training, evaluating, and retaining qualified faculty and staff.
  • Participates with Program Chairs in curriculum development, evaluation and revision as requested.
  • Coordinates with appropriate curriculum partners to ensure faculty are trained on all designated curriculum and institutional assessment initiatives.
  • Assists the Campus Director to provide organizational guidance with updated FAA DOE and Accrediting Body requirements.
  • Manages students retention activities that include, but not limited to contacting absent students, new student orientation, coordinating departmental student academic advising, providing a beginning point of contact for student escalation with academic issues
  • Ensures academic department compliance with State Department of Education, Federal Aviation Administration, accreditation, other regulatory agencies and company criteria, regulations, and policies.
  • Leads Continuing Student Review process initiatives assigned by Campus Director with a lead by example mentality.
  • Participates as an integral part of the campus budget process, reviewing budget, authorizing part-time and full-time faculty payroll, and managing faculty program within established budget parameters.
  • Works with Campus Director to meet budget goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the Campus Resource Center (CRC) to ensure a Spartan team environment.
  • Ensures an efficient transfer of credit process among department at the college.
  • Manages Satisfactory Academic Progress hearing for students.
  • Continues to function as the Academic Chair for the current programs.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the College.
  • Performs other essential duties as assigned by Campus Director

Required Skills

  • Strong communication and computer skills including Microsoft Office suite. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information, communicate and respond to question from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Education And Work Experience

  • Associates Degree with Bachelor’s Degree preferred from an academic institution accredited by a regional or nation accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Previous Director of Education / Dean / Academic Management experience at the post-secondary level
  • Experience with CampusVue software or similar student information system software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and accreditation regulations applicable to the proprietary education industry.
