The Forte Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Research & Education team has an opening for a Bioskills Lab Coordinator to help manage day-to-day activities in the new, state-of-the-art bioskills lab located within the Franciscan Orthopedic Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. This individual must possess a wide range of skills and attributes including strong work ethic, creative mind, understanding of anatomy and surgical procedures, specimen handling, and detail-oriented. Our Bioskills Lab Coordinator will interface with clients and vendors, so strong intra-, inter- professional skills are crucial in the success of this role. Work will primarily take place in the second half of the week and weekends. The position will be a part of a team that work closely together to support the research and education activities of Forte Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.

As The Bioskills Lab Coordinator, This Individual Will Provide White Glove Service To Our Physicians, Trainees, And Customers. A Limited List Of Duties Is Listed Below:

  • Maintaining a safe and clean lab environment. Cleaning of surgical instruments and equipment. Proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Coordination with customers/vendors on event planning, specimen procurement, equipment rentals, event day setup, and processing of materials for return shipments.
  • Ensure that equipment, freezer, and supplies are maintained and serviced as required.
  • Catalogue and track cadaver specimens ensuring proper and ethical delivery, storage, preparation, and cremation/return.
  • Work alongside physicians and vender representatives as a “surgical technologist”, preparing instrument tables and participating in bioskills activities.
  • Managing lab inventory to ensure proper quantities of equipment, instruments, soft goods, and implants are available for scheduled events.
  • Responsible for the lab’s AATB, OSHA, and SOP compliance.
  • Coordinate course schedule, booking system, and communication.
  • Assist with facility marketing as needed.
  • Management of MediaSuite AV Platform, video streaming, and iSuite system.
  • Operation of medical imaging equipment including standard and mini C-Arms

Qualifications:

Previous experience as an athletic trainer, health sciences, 1st assist, radiologic technologist, physician assistant, RN, or other similar clinical professions.

Education:

  • 4 year degree in clinical position preferred.
  • Completion of a 2 year degree in a clinical care related field may apply.

Skills:

  • Strong donor specimen and work ethics.
  • Detail oriented. Able to maintain accurate logs, manage calendars, and monitor inventory.
  • Understanding of surgical equipment and instruments. Willing to obtain further training to improve knowledge.
  • Able to solve problems and innovate solutions on the fly. Use the resources of the lab and Orthopedic Makerspace to ensure events run seamlessly.
  • Competent with computers, streaming services, cloud storage, and productivity software.
  • Strong communication skills with trainees and customers. Comfortable interacting with physicians, customer leadership, and support staff.
