Position Overview 

Canam is seeking a Senior Business Development Engineer to join its Sales and Preconstruction team, a key position that will manage the sales and preconstruction functions for Canam. Responsibilities of the Senior Business Development Engineer include design/assist and conduct business development activities with engineering firms consistent with business unit growth objectives as well as supporting sales and estimating during bids.

Essential Functions:

• Develop a strong network of contacts with structural engineering firms in Southeastern region of USA.
• Identify opportunities and generate potential repeat structural steel package business accounts among owners and Real Estate Developers.
• Continually research targeted client profiles, identify needs and develop better building solution offers.
• Promote Canam products and services in collaboration with consultants in the construction industry.
• Travel on a regular basis to maintain and build relationships with engineering firms and other potential clients.
• Obtains information required to prepare complete estimates.
• Collaborate with the sales and preconstruction team in parallel with the Canam engineering and estimating team to provide guidance, proposed solutions and VEs to clients.
• Attend and participate in construction industry conferences, seminars, trade shows and various networking events.

• Licensed as a Professional Engineer
• 10 years of work experience in the structural steel construction industry.
• Knowledge and understanding of building construction combined with steel design concepts presented on architectural and engineering drawings.
• Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite software with experience using a CRM platform.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents.
• Excellent organizational, customer service, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel frequently across the territory.
